Two Ideas to Walk By Faith at Work Today

By Mike Henry Sr.

What does it mean to walk by faith?

Therefore, being always of good courage, and knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord— for we walk by faith, not by sight— we are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord. Therefore we also have as our ambition, whether at home or absent, to be pleasing to Him. 2 Corinthians 5:6-9 NASB

Walking by faith is another way of saying that we live according to what we know about Jesus. We know Jesus would have us love others as ourselves (Matthew 22:36-40). We know he would have us lay down our lives for our friends (John 15:13). He would ask us to be humble (James 4:10). We make it our ambition to please Jesus.

I came up with two ideas to walk by faith today. Try one and let me know how it goes. Or comment below and add your own.

Do More Than Your Share

Because I trust Jesus, I will get my work done and then help someone else without being asked. Maybe I can take notes in a meeting even when it’s not your job. I can make coffee instead of emptying the pot and turning it off. I may need to simply help a team member put away some inventory or distribute the mail. Arrive early, do your work ahead of time and then do something for someone else.

Appreciate Others

Another idea would be to express genuine appreciation. With your own money, buy a box of thank you cards and come in a few minutes early one day each week. Ask God to direct you. Who do you need to appreciate? Write them a note thanking them for what they did and put in on their desk or in their work area before they come into work. If you did this once a week, you would encourage 52 people

Take the Challenge

As we walk by faith we train our minds for ministry. Do you think of yourself as a minister to your workplace? Check out the Ministry Mindset Challenge, complete the assessment and commit to read and do the daily emails for 4 weeks. God will give you more ideas as you train yourself, walk by faith, and grow your workplace ministry.
