October 2018 Marketplace Mission Trip Recap

More every day, I enjoy walking with God. I experience new life when I actively pursue him and doing his will. Daily, I discover God’s joy as I follow Jesus and focus on his will and his objectives rather than my own.

This past week on the Marketplace Mission Trip, I had the opportunity to see and experience things I can’t explain other than by saying that God was at work. We didn’t have hundreds of people who claim God changed their lives. There were not dozens of reports of people who decided to follow Jesus. We didn’t experience throngs of people on conference calls, clicking links, sharing in the community, or anything like that.

We did have a few friends who were a little more in-tune with Jesus at their workplace. There were reports of conversations between everyday workplace Jesus-followers and their coworkers. We saw the beginning of spiritual conversations. Some friends said they felt more closely connected to Christ’s work in their coworkers, family and friends.

Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.” Lamentations 3:21-23

We also learned some lessons. I think we need a more-formal signup so we can be more specific about who we pray for. We need to make the calls later in the evening. Many people had conflicts at 7 PM in early October. In the coming weeks, we will schedule another trip and we will also have more thoughts on lessons learned as I speak with friends, participants, and mentors who were involved in this effort.
